My hubby and I turned 40 this year and the plan was always to go on a tropical vacation. Just think, sitting next to a pool at an amazing resort in Mexico or Jamaica, chillin’, not working…you know, celebrating!

But we didn’t feel comfortable traveling during Covid times this past January.

Welcome, summer. As much as I love the sunshine, lake and flip flops, I do miss the routine of our school schedule. One of these weddings happen each year. The wedding that holds nothing back. And this Omaha wedding at A View on State was that wedding.

And it doesn’t hurt when the groom is an event planner himself.

Wording a wedding invitation seems so simple. You just put your names, the date, time, location…boom. You’re done, right?

These are the weddings that sneak up on me.

When I talked with Ashley & Stephen about their September 2020 wedding, I know it was going to be beautiful. Their vision of their Estes Park wedding over Labor Day weekend was everything…low key yet gorgeous. Natural yet a pop of color. Casual yet upscale.

I know I can’t compete with them. The “big box” wedding invitation websites out there. You know who I’m talking about. And when I say I can’t compete…I can’t compete on one thing: PRICE. $1/invitation plus free envelope printing they have out there? Sorry. No price matching.

During the 2020 pandemic wedding season, I felt an obligation to be there for all my couples. If that was charging cost for reprints, guiding them through game plans of what to do next, or helping them making decisions…I wanted to be there.

I can’t believe I’m just sharing this on my blog now! I ran across my post on my Wedding Tip Wednesday video with A Final Take last year at this time. And it hit me, I never shared it on my blog.

One of my goals with designing wedding invitations is to design for a celebrity wedding. Being in the middle of the Midwest, I think it’s a pretty lofty goal. But if I don’t put it out there, it won’t happen. So I’m putting it out there (still looking at you, future Mrs. Brittany Mahomes).
