It’s the number one question I get asked:
“When do I put our wedding invitations in the mail?”
This is probably your first wedding, so how are you suppose to know, right? It’s a fairly easy question to answer, but there are some factors that could change it.
Invitations go in the mail 6-8 weeks before your wedding. Easy math…count back 2 months from wedding day (getting married 11.9.19? Then put them in the mail 9.9.19).
Factors that can affect this:
- Destination weddings – Get those invites in the mail a bit sooner if you have people traveling to your wedding, regardless of the destination. Plan on at least 3 months prior to wedding if you’ve done a Save the Date. If you didn’t, think about 4-6 months before your wedding so guests can make their travel plans.
- Save the Date – If you did a Save the Date for your wedding and you feel like you’re behind on getting your invitations in the mail, don’t sweat it. Save the Dates can help and getting invites in the mail 5-6 weeks before your wedding will work.
While we’re at it, make sure to mark 6-9 months before your wedding on your calendar to get those Save the Dates in the mail AND 1-2 months after your wedding to slide those Thank You notes to your guests.
