Gold Foil Classic Invitation Defines St. Vincent de Paul Omaha Wedding

Andra & Connor  |  Omaha, Nebraska  |  dSy invitations

I meet a bride who knows exactly what she wants a few times a year.  I mean, don’t get me wrong.  The couples I usually meet with have a good idea of what they want.  But then there is Andra.  I still remember the day I met with her.  She had her style down pat.  And when it came to designing it, she had me double and triple check font sizes.  As a designer, I don’t encourage that, but I do appreciate it.  What we designed for her Omaha, Nebraska wedding at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, nothing less than stellar.

It’s the first one I currently grab when I meet with a couple who wants something classic.  I’ve had brides want to recreate it in their own colors or just sit in aww at it’s pure beauty.

From the photos from the talented Wyn Wiley of Andra and Connor’s wedding day, it looked as amazing as she described it to be.

Not only invitations, but we designed ceremony programs, welcome cards for her hotel guest welcome bags, menus, placecards and a large welcome sign.

I loved all these pieces!

Congrats to this wonderful couple!  Wishing you a lifetime of happiness.

Your Wedding Iowa Bridal Forum

I was so happy to be back in Des Moines for the Your Wedding Iowa Bridal Forum on Sunday.  I love meeting with couples, hearing their wedding style, wedding date and setting up times to chat even more in-depth about what we can design for their wedding invitations.

As always, here are a few things that stood out to me yesterday from these Iowa couples:

  • Big Weddings!  I had a handful of brides asking for pricing for over 250 invitations (yes, invitations!).
  • Navy and gold.  Trends are on point in Des Moines.
  • 2017 brides were out in full force.  And a 2018 bride…the ultimate planner!

My booth space looked fabulous once again thanks to my fantastic husband who braved super cold temps to haul everything into the West Des Moines Sheraton and set up my booth even before the family was out of bed Sunday morning.  This is the first time since moving back to Omaha that I did an Iowa show, so my family were troopers to pack up and spend the weekend in a hotel room and find something to do on a Sunday afternoon (great day for a movie!)

If I had the pleasure to chat with you yesterday, let’s follow up with a free invitation consultation!  I’d love to hear more about your wedding style and how we can make that come to life through your wedding invites.  Summer 2016 couples…contact me NOW!  I’m getting limited on time and bookings.

IMG_7492On the road!  It was probably the coldest weekend of the year, but we loaded up and headed East.

IMG_7497My fantastic crew!  They packed up, loaded up, unloaded, set up and hauled it back home for me.  And got to see The Good Dinosaur somewhere in that time too.

IMG_7499My booth looked great once again.  Thanks to Bella Flora for the awesome flowers!

Best of Weddings 2016

I am extremely honored to be selected as The Knot’s Best of Weddings for 2016!

What does this mean?  It means that dSy invitations is the top 5% of vendors listed on The Knot in the invitations category in Nebraska.  And because there are only a select few invitation vendors for Nebraska, it means dSy invitations is the ONLY invitation vendor in the state of Nebraska with the title of “Best of Weddings”.

And to brag a bit more, this is the third year in a row we have been selected for this award.

Vendors can be eligible for Best of Weddings through the reviews they receive on The Knot by couples.  So this isn’t something that was determined by a bunch of people sitting around in a room.  This was determined by the fabulous couples I’ve designed for and have taken time to express their appreciation through their review of my services.

And that’s why I’m proud.

Thanks to all these couples.  I am humbled to put this award on my bookshelf (next to the others) but that fact that it comes from YOU, means so much more.

Let’s rock 2016!

Omaha Idea Show 2015

I was a vendor at the 2015 Omaha Wedding Essentials Idea Show on October 18 at the MidAmerica Center.  And WOW.  I was blown away by the number of couples I talked to.  A few things I learned:

  • October is the HOT MONTH to get married. I chatted with so many October 2016 couples it was crazy!
  • Glitter is in.  ‘Nuf said.
  • The couples I’ve already booked for 2016 are right on the mark when it comes to the styles, colors and ideas for 2016 weddings.  I’m seeing tons of navy, blush, neutrals and gold.  And of course, the mention above (glitter).
  • Omaha is full of amazing wedding vendors.  Everyone came out in full force with their best stuff and I was blown away by the amazing table displays, music, lighting, cake (I tried them all) and floral.  Omaha engaged couples should be happy with the selection they are offered here in Omaha.

Now, for my booth.  I’m so lucky to be married to a guy who can help take my sketch and make it come to life.  We had a booth display I’ve used for the past few years, but with multiple moves and knowing the set up was heavy and a pain in the @$$, we left it in Iowa and wanted to start over for this Fall show.

Here is my first sketch of my booth:

IMG_6944Yep, that’s where all ideas start.  So if you can’t tell, I wanted a big wall with a few shelves, my logo on top and then some bookshelf below.  I also wanted to bring in a furniture piece for the side, but this show didn’t lend itself to that.  So next time.

And here is where we started:

IMG_6796It’s a door.  A 32″ hollow frame door which we purchased from Lowe’s.  My hubby built a “base” which allows the doors to just slide in the top and have screws on the back to screw them in tight and straight up.  Something only a construction mind can think of.

Here are some more photos of my men at work:

IMG_6799Putting latches on the doors so they suck in tight together.

IMG_6798 2My adorable bubs “helping” daddy with his tool set.  Seriously, could that be more adorable?

IMG_6805I ordered this custom logo made out of wood from Woodums on Etsy.  I was super impressed with the quality and the time it took to get to me was unbelievably fast.  I had this before we purchased anything else.  It had a cool wood-burned look to it, but my vision was always to spray it metallic gold.  Which I did.

I painted the doors Aspen Gray (Valspar) and created some shelves for the doors.  The original plan was 6 shelves, but I wanted enough room for my logo and didn’t want to crowd the space.  Quality vs. quantity.  So I went with 4 shelves.IMG_6918

Great brackets my hubby found at Menards.  The shelves slip right in there so we don’t have to unscrew shelves in and out time and time again.IMG_6919

My first Ikea purchase!  WHOO HOO!  I love these bookshelves and they’ll make a great addition to my office area after it’s all done.

A quick glue job for the logo and we loaded up to the show and set up.  Setting up the day before is always nice, but with the new set up, we were in and out in about 25 minutes (with two kids with us….bonus points).  And here is the finished product at the show:

I was so happy and proud of how this came together.  And the compliments at the show…never ending!  Special thanks to All Seasons Floral for making exactly what I needed.  I threw Dana Bean some colors, a height I wanted, and she did amazing.

This is definitely one of the best wedding invitation booths out there, right?  I’d love your feedback!  Next wedding shows: January 2016.  I’ll let you know when and where those will be!

Megan + Ross | Omaha, NE | dSy invitations wedding

When I see photos of Megan and Ross’s wedding, I can’t help but think this is the type of wedding Megan had been dreaming about since she was 7 years old, or whenever little girls start dreaming about their wedding.  Beautiful bride, handsome groom, large beautiful church and every last detail was elegant perfection.

And that’s how I envisioned it too when I first met Megan, her mom and mother-in-law early 2014.  Megan wanted nothing but classic in every element.  Her invitations were designed with exactly that in mind…and trust me, classic elegance may look easy, but is definitely not that.  We wanted to show that classic look Megan was searching for, but make it their own too.  Their invitations were black on ivory with a second layer of a navy blue linen paper adhered to the back.  This gave the invite substance and that little bit of color Megan had throughout her wedding day.  The RSVP postcard and guest information card were both beautiful. We printed all guest names and addresses on the envelopes to round out the entire package.

For wedding day, we created a folded, classic wedding ceremony program as well as a long skinny menu that gave the table a pop of shine with the cream metallic paper it was printed on.

Such a great couple and I loved working with them.  Congrats…wishing you a lifetime of happiness.
