In the early spring of 2019, Nebraska endured record breaking flooding and devastation. Farmland was washed out, small towns had to move and bridges were washed away over night.
And when you’re planning your wedding at your grandfather’s farm in this flood area, you’re thinking of Plan B.
Nikki and Don were planning a September 2019 wedding at her grandfather’s farm in Leshara, Nebraska, just west of Omaha. This area took a lot of the flooding. I remember reaching out to Nikki in the late spring to check in and they were hopeful they weren’t going to have to switch locations.
And I’m sure glad the flood waters subsided enough and her grandfather’s farm was ready for the wedding by September. Because this wedding was everything they were dreaming about. The weather was beyond perfect for an outdoor Nebraska wedding (minus the storm that came in later that night…but I’m sure the party was going by that time).
Their wedding invitations were square panel pocket invitations with the perfect shade of burgundy for the pocket. We paired a burgundy envelope with this with this and a navy envelope for the RSVP (loved that punch of color).
The item I designed for this couple I loved was their monogram. We used it just on the return of the envelope, but Nikki’s mom took it from there, creating almost everything and anything you can think of with their monogram on it, including have a grain bin lit up with the monogram. This was a first for me and I loved this personal touch.
Also, I created the seating chart and menu for them. They were building some sort of a stand for these pieces and just provided me the size of paper they needed. The end result was awesome.
This couple really personalized their wedding with not only their monogram, but incorporating so much of their lives into this day.
