Having Your Winter Wedding in a Blizzard: This Couple Provides a Guide

When you schedule a February wedding in Omaha, Nebraska, you know you're taking a risk with the weather. It could be a beautiful 60 degree spring-like day, or you could find yourself in the middle of the biggest blizzard the city has seen in years.

Cue Kayla & Matt's February Omaha wedding. As the weekend was nearing, the weather was looking worse and worse. And that day, most of the city shut down because of the ice and then snow that blanketed the city. Their transportation even had to cancel because apparently party buses can not drive through snow drifts.

But when you have a marriage to begin, you say, "Sorry, Mother Nature" and you get married anyways.

This couple seemed to look past the horrible weather of that day and just chalk it up to part of the day that will make it memorable.

The Invitations

As for this couple's style, I was excited to give Kayla and Matt beautiful, dark jewel tones in their wedding invitations. After doing so much light blush and gold the past few years, the dark, moody colors were welcome.

We paired their invitations with a beautiful copper wax seal on their navy envelopes, were were white ink printed. We added a few other pieces in the invitation suite such as the invitation to the rehearsal the evening before as well as party bus tickets (which sadly, weren't used) :(

Wedding Day Items

Kayla and Matt gave me a chance to experiment a bit and try a mirror seating chart for them. I presented this idea to Kayla and she was more than happy to be my guinea pig on this idea. And it turned out amazing! Second to the beautiful bride, the seating chart was the talk of the reception.

Kudos to this couple for providing a guide on how to make your wedding look beautiful in a blizzard. You rocked it.
