Mint and Modern Rustic: Nick & Anna’s wedding at Noah’s Event Venue

Modern rustic.  Two crazy words together. But being in the wedding industry, I can have a couple say something like that and I know exactly where they’re headed.  Mainly, rustic but no burlap.  Bring in some classic elements and don’t be afraid to make it stylish, but fun.

Enter in Nick and Anna who came to me with that style with a fun mint green wedding color to play with. And what I loved about their wedding invitations, is that we weren’t afraid to use the mint at all.  Mint colored envelopes had to catch the eyes of their guests when they opened the mailboxes.  These were fun, classic and original for their wedding day.

The thing that I loved most about this couple was their wedding day items.  Of course, I always point out ceremony programs as something to have wedding day.  But for them, the list continued on and on and on.  I was blown away but super excited at the same time.

I’m trying to think if I can even list these things off the top of my head.  Here it goes:

Ceremony programs
Napkins
Koozies
Table Numbers (with their baby photos!)
Custom Signs
Seating Charts
Engraved wood frames (for parent gifts)
Gift Bag Tags (the only one I did have to look up to remember)

These pieces made their wedding day even more personalized for the couple. And that’s the element of surprise that I love.

Noah’s Event Venue in Omaha was the perfect location for these two and the amazing Brett Brooner did an amazing job (as usual) capturing their wedding day.

Congrats, Anna & Nick.  Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

Golden dream wedding comes to life at Champions Run, Omaha

I seem to find a couple each year that will put their fingerprint into my business.  When I look back at 2017 weddings, Leslie and James’ wedding at Champions Run in Omaha will be that wedding.

They have a style that is impeccable.  Classic.  Elegant.  Timeless.  I loved diving into what Leslie & James had in mind for their big day because they threw me so many things that I could only dream of designing.

Custom cigar wraps?  Sure.

For reals.

She came to me with a logo that was designed by Schuler Studios.  I’ve seen their work and recognized it right away.  I love the monogram that they created for Leslie and James and she did too, because I’m pretty sure she had it printed, embroidered and laser cut into everything.  That’s where the classic elements started.

Their Save the Dates were oversized die-cut and gold foiled cards.  I knew the invites had to be spectacular if the Save the Dates started there!

And they were.  Leslie loved the idea of an oversized, tri-fold pocket invitation.  We incorporated gold foiling throughout the invitation and then my favorite part of the entire invitation: thin gold ribbon wrapped around the pocket and sealed with a gold wax seal.   Perfection.  One would have thought I would have gotten tired of doing 400+ wax seals.  But I didn’t (keep reading).

Add custom envelope liners and calligraphy by the talented Miranda Writes.  I mean, c’mon.  People should have a gotten an invitation to receive this invitation.  It was the main event!

Wedding day items were just as amazing.  Wax Seals?  Bring ’em on because their ceremony program was a tri-fold program sealed with that same gold wax.  500+ more wax seals (maybe by that time I was done doing wax seals….but I’d do it again in a heartbeat!).  We also created gold vinyl monogram signs, white ink acrylic signs plus all the details for their rehearsal dinner.  And yes, custom printed cigar wraps (with their amazing monogram of course!)

Their wedding: amazing. I still get chills watching their wedding video. And the thing is: this couple is so down-to-earth.  That’s what I think I enjoyed most working with them.  They are good people.  And when you find a couple like that, my job isn’t a job at all.  I’m just a part of the amazing day they created to kick off their lives together.

Congrats, Leslie & James.  I enjoyed every moment working together and wish you an amazing lifetime together!

Thanks to Iwen Exposures for the amazing photography of their wedding day!

Kira & Kyle – Rocky Mountain Bride Feature

When I see my invites in print or on a national blog, I get kinda gitty.  I got an email before Christmas that Kira and Kyle’s 2016 Montana destination wedding would be featured in Rocky Mountain Bride magazine.  Merry Christmas to me!

I still constantly show off their invites to new couples.  This was one of the original invitations I designed with a water color floral look.  She was right on trend and I loved that I could create this beautiful design for her.

Check out the feature here.  And thanks to RMB for featuring this beautiful wedding and beautiful couple!

Perfect Purple Classic Invitations for Omaha Wedding

Emily & Paul |  Legacy Hall  |  Omaha, Nebraska  |  dSy invitations

I never ask, “what are your wedding colors?”  I’ve learned that not all couples have distinct wedding colors.  The typical response I would receive: “Well, I don’t really have A color.”  Tones, hues and combinations is typically what I see.

Emily and Paul were on the opposite spectrum.  Her purple was beautiful and we brought it out perfectly on their wedding invitations.  Their wedding invitations have a very classic look to them, which paired perfectly for their Catholic wedding ceremony.  I was in awe when she sent me her wedding photos. Those florals!  Breathtaking pops of color to compliment everything they put together.

Gold Foil Classic Invitation Defines St. Vincent de Paul Omaha Wedding

Andra & Connor  |  Omaha, Nebraska  |  dSy invitations

I meet a bride who knows exactly what she wants a few times a year.  I mean, don’t get me wrong.  The couples I usually meet with have a good idea of what they want.  But then there is Andra.  I still remember the day I met with her.  She had her style down pat.  And when it came to designing it, she had me double and triple check font sizes.  As a designer, I don’t encourage that, but I do appreciate it.  What we designed for her Omaha, Nebraska wedding at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, nothing less than stellar.

It’s the first one I currently grab when I meet with a couple who wants something classic.  I’ve had brides want to recreate it in their own colors or just sit in aww at it’s pure beauty.

From the photos from the talented Wyn Wiley of Andra and Connor’s wedding day, it looked as amazing as she described it to be.

Not only invitations, but we designed ceremony programs, welcome cards for her hotel guest welcome bags, menus, placecards and a large welcome sign.

I loved all these pieces!

Congrats to this wonderful couple!  Wishing you a lifetime of happiness.

Love shines in Anna & Seth’s mixed metal Lincoln, Nebraska wedding

I love making my way down I-80 to Lincoln, Nebraska to meet with brides. A warm, summer morning brought me to meet Anna. I knew the designs we would create would be special. She had ideas. She had a passion. She was in love with her soon-to-be groom, Seth.

Anna chose one of my favorite photographers, Wyn Wiley for her wedding day, and like he does so well, their engagement photos were magnificent. Thus, beautiful Save the Dates were born.dsy_0120

For Anna and Seth’s wedding invitations, she loved the oh-so-popular gold foiling, which at the time I was just diving into creating. Each piece of her invitation suite was accompanied with gold foil, paired with a light gray envelope and gold envelope liner. We created a wedding monogram for their invitation wrap and mixed metal perfection fell into place.annasethweddinginvitations

But it wasn’t the Save the Dates, wedding invitations, place cards, menus or custom signs that will make me remember this could. It was this little gift:

gift_giraffe_binkie

You see, when Anna and Seth were to get their invites in the mail, it was the same time I was bringing in my new little one into the world. I’m sure my emails were filled with “don’t worry” and “we’ll get this done”. And Anna was on board — and everything was in their hands before my little guy was placed into mine.

Gifts are fun to receive, but they’re just things. But the thought behind this one meant more than I could have imagined. Most brides I meet with want a family some day. Most aren’t thinking about that for a while. Anna placed herself in my shoes and the thoughtfulness she showed….unforgettable.

My hope is their wedding day was the same.

Check out Anna & Seth’s wedding day photos from the talented, Wyn Wiley.  There are too many good ones to just pick a few to feature here.

Julie + Matt | Wahoo, Nebraska | dSy invitations wedding

There is a wedding like this that rolls around once a year for me.  I just didn’t see it coming when I met the GROOM at a bridal show.  Yes, the groom.  Solo.  His bride couldn’t make it but he wanted to come and get information for her.  (can we say keeper?)  I got their information and followed up with a consultation with both the bride and groom and fell in love with this down-to-earth couple who wanted something fun for their wedding day.  And since their reception was at the Strategic Air & Space Museum in Ashland, an airplane theme seemed to work well for them.

And me.  It’s not often you can create a wedding invitation that looks like an airline ticket.  And for the RSVP, just rip that off the side of the ticket, much like a real airline ticket when you board the plane (or used to before online tickets, right?)  I love the navy metallic open-ended envelope we paired with this too.

But what I couldn’t wait for was an idea we discussed at their consultation.  What about a paper airplane ceremony program?  One that you could actually fold up and fly at the couple when they leave the church?  Seriously?  Can we do this?  And really that was my question…check with the church to make sure we can do this.  Because in my head, the design was already started.

Enter in airplane ceremony program.  Complete with folding instructions on the back.  This was maybe my favorite piece of the year.  Maybe even since designing for couples in the past five years.  Unique.  Personalized.  Made exactly for this couple and their wedding day.  I love it.  Check out my separate blog about that project.

Thanks to this wonderful couple for making me part of their big day.  I hope every time you see a paper airplane, it reminds you of your wedding day.

Emily + Matt | Omaha, Nebraska | dSy invitations wedding

Oh how I’m so excited to begin my blogs of 2016 weddings.  Yes, it’s been a long time coming.  But I’ve been a little busy…with 2016 weddings.  Ironic.  But as things start to go into winter wedding design season, I have a bit of breathing room to share some amazing weddings from this past year.

And first up, one of the most bubbly and fun couples I worked with.  It happens sometimes when I click with a couple.  Okay, with a bride.  I’m not going to lie.  I felt like Emily and I coulda grabbed a glass of wine and chatted about her wedding all day long.  I loved her personality, her style and her down-to-earth personality.  And to no surprise, her personality shows through in the photos from their wedding. As well as their amazing style.

Emily and Matt were right on trend with the hot hot hot color of navy for 2016 weddings.  Their accent of mint green was fabulous and we incorporated a modern, fun look with their wedding invitations and ceremony programs.

Thank you to this fun couple for letting dSy invitations design for your wedding day.  Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

Dana + Steven | Omaha June Wedding | dSy Wedding

Sometimes people are meant to be.  The universe collides to bring two people together who were just meant to be together.

Dana and Steven?  Probably them too, but I’m talking about the bride, Dana and myself.  One would think that finding a bride-to-be with the same first name is something special.  I mean, how many Danas do you know?  There aren’t a lot of us and take in that there are a few guys out there with this name, your chances are less.

And then it hit me when I was designing Dana & Steven’s Save the Date postcard.  Not only did Dana and I share our first name, but Dana’s last name was about to change to Osborn.  Minus the “e” like mine but still, that’s a pretty big coincidence!

All of that just brought me to love this couple even more.  I met them at the DC Centre Bridal Fair and they won my prize I was giving out.  I met with Dana, got to know her and her wedding style.  Navy and yellow, classic, vintage, yet fun are all things I heard from this happy bride and I couldn’t wait to use their photos to create their Save the Date postcard with personalized monogram.  After awhile, we touched base again and they were ready to begin the invitation design process.  I designed the invitation, Guest Information card and envelopes which featured their monogram as their return address.  We also did the programs for their wedding ceremony as well as an acrylic etched wedding cake topper with their monogram. {LOVE}

Congrats to Dana & Steven on their wedding day and thank you for allowing me to design for you.  I enjoyed your unique style and down-to-earth personalities.
